Every week you will face with 3-4 hours of downtime. If you live in GMT+2 timezone generally their downtimes comes on the prime times like 21:00-23:00. So you will lose most of your visitors.

Some people even lost all of their data's because of their hardware failures.

I've been whe VPSLand for several years and they had been okay up until this year. Now I haven't been able to login for months and they don't seem to even care to fix it. Since July I've been getting a license error with cpanel and now it's mid October, still not fixed.

Hosted with vpsland for 4 years. These were 4 years of writing support tickets and waiting several days for a reply while the server is down. I had 5 servers with them ... They never tell you when they reboot the server for whatever reason. There is ZERO communication from the company. While the support staff is friendly, they often reply just too late and almost never during a weekend.
Had no control panel to reboot xen server, despite they apparently offered the service (not to me).
They do not even have a phone number or any form of emergency contact.

I just canceled the last remaining servers. And I am glad!

Avoid this hosting company at all means!

I purchased VPSLand, at the start it was fine. But after 2 days I got a 5 hour offtime, and they wouldn't reply to me within 10 hours. The next day I got back on and the same day it shutdown again. for atleast 5 hours. I was fed up by then, But then the connection was reset and It was as good as new. But then....... It has happend again. And they will not reply to me now.

I would definetly not recommend using VPSLand, they're so unreliable! It's not even funny. They don't give you a refund. They won't even do a backup.

Ok here's my story:

I purchased VPSLand and I didn't get my server until a week late. After numerous complaints, they said they'd have it done that day -- of course they did but not what I'd expect.

First off, nothing was installed correctly. It was all screwed up. Python and PHP were incorrectly installed, the mySQL was screwed to. They didn't even have G-zip installed which I find hilarious.

They never sent me my root information, nothing. Of course, I guessed the user would be "root" and what the password would be and started fixing the stuff on my own.

Today, the server was taken offline and it says the server is down and I asked them and their reason is, "We don't know."

So that's it. I'm done with them. I asked for a refund and I'll go from their...

Worst support ever

I've been use VPSLand for several months and everything was more or less ok. There were 2-4 hours downtimes from time to time, but I think it's ok considering the prices.

But, if you want something from support, prepare yourself to wait for days or even weeks. Here's my horrible story:

Once I decided to upgrade my Linux XL plan. I ordered updgrade to their XL-256, paid for it and in a couple days I had 256 RAM on that VPS. But due their strange marketing things they should provide 384 Mb of RAM on that plan, not 256.

Ok, I wrote them about this mistake and again in a couple days I had 384 Mb of RAM. But! The VPS was down. I tried to reboot it with their XEN Panel, but got the message: "Could Not Start Vps, Reason: Error: I need 393216 KiB, but dom0_min_mem is 200704 and shrinking to 200704 KiB would leave only 304284 KiB free."

As far as I can understand my VPS now just can't fit into server's memory.

So, I asked them to fix it, I said that it will be ok if they cut the memory back to 256 and take their time to fix it while my site would be running ok. But all I get from them is: "I am escalating your issue to our senior admins so that they can assist you further."

Now I have 6 days of downtime and I'm sure will be even more. The worst thing that I don't have backup of the data on that VPS and I can't run it in some other place until they fix the problem.

Learned lesson: now I backup all my sites with rsync several times a day.

Worst host ever, took 3 days to setup after they said they would set it up the same day. They blamed it on anti-fraud system, I provided full information and a valid phone #. Their techs lack information and are hard headed. I provided correct information and they couldn't find it in the databae so they asked me to tell them the real information. They have nothing to do with the setting up process and makeup a random time to get your hopes up. Their support is always offline, they know nothing of what they are talking about. My server would go down and they'd have to wait for a real tech guy to get on and manage things. They take forever to upgrade and reply to tickets.

Scewed Pretty Well - No Compliment

VPSLAND is becoming a painful lesson. I have read many bad reviews and then it hit me. Why the ---- am i seeking out and reading these reviews after i've purchased the service already. Then it hit me again, because i can't believe how royally im being screwed. Unlike others, i have not had many incidents with VPSLAND, just one really nice thrashing.

I brought the service with no particular use in mind at the time and later decided to use it as a backbone system meaning i would run services on the platform but have no user interface i.e. postgresql, mysql, sql server and subversion. Emphasis on the "subversion" piece.

For those of you who are not developers, "subversion" is a repository, a kind of storage database for files but mainly program code. The word repository pretty much defines that it is your centralized location for storing your program files.

Anywho, I have been mainly using the service as a svn ("subversion") repository and though I hadnt backed up anything yet, i had managed to store a heck of alot of code there. Well today i went into my office to work on a project and the first thing i did was sync my local file with the ones in the repository, denied, maybe its the password, denied, maybe my ip changed though its supposed to be static. Fine, went to cp.vpsland.com and logged in, account disabled, WTF, no reason as to why, emailed support - critical, 6 hours later, your account was disabled due to spamming, WTF, as i said earlier I only use the box for lite db stuff and svn.

Here is the latest email:
-----My Message-----
I have no idea what your talking about. Also, are you saying that you deleted my account and all my data is lost? I have files on there that were not backed up yet. If this is your MO/TOS than I cannot do business with your company and I will still need the file I've installed on your VPS. To delete a customers space without warning or notice based on an assumed malpractice ["of which I have no idea what your talking about (spamming)"] is jacked up to say the least.

PS. Its been 6 hours now since I've had access to my box. I can't image anyone hosting any serious services on your network if this is how you operate. No offense.

VPS Land Woes

Review Score: 6

Because of the low price, I signed up for the EZ Starter plan with 1024 MB ram 32bit Windows, the setup was pretty fast (24 hour turn around time) and the performance was amazingly fast. I was impressed UNTIL Day 2.

Incident 1 - DDOS Protection: On Day 2, my VPS started to crawl and I got kicked out of terminal service while I was trying to install SQL remotely. I contacted tech support to open a ticket, the respond was pretty fast and they rebooted the server in about 2 hours. In the end they found out it was a DDOS attack to another VPS sitting behind the firewall, they told me they shut down the offending customer. Because I was behind the same firewall, so I was affected. What? shouldn't DDOS be protected by firewall automatically? and shouldn't they be pro actively taking action instead of me as a customer tell them to fix a problem? You can tell what grade of equipment and monitoring system they are using.

Incident 2 - Backup Doesn't work: After my VPS is back to normal, I installed everything and started to do a VPS backup in the Virtuozzo power panel. I clicked the button and backup started, I was told to "refresh" the page and I closely monitored it for 3 hours and it had NEVER finished. Even worse, after I logged off I couldn't logon again to my Virtuozzo power panel anymore. I contacted tech support and they said I would get a email notification when it is done. Okay, I waited. After more than 48 hours, still no email, and I couldn't logon to virtuozzo power panel. Tech support didn't do anything - as expected.

Incident 3 - Dr. Watson Errror and site down for x days: Forget about the backup, I continued to migrate my old ASP.NET site to my VPS. I uploaded all my files, and restarted IIS. Holy.. I got a Dr. Watson error DW20.exe!!!???? I also opened Management Studio and it crashed ???!!!! I have been hosting the same ASP site in another shared hosting company for 2 years, and I have been using Microsoft Virtual Server running in my basement for 4 years, never had that problem. So, I decided to "Restart" my VPS and nightmare just began - it never came back on.

I tried using the Customer Portal to 'Stop/Start' my VPS, that was useless and didn't work. Virtuozzo power panel of course was NOT responding at all. Again I contacted tech support, and after 8 hours, they tried to 'Reboot' my VPS and it didn't work either. Then, they updated my ticket to 'In-Progress' and all I could do was WAIT (The site has been down for more than 24 hours).

Can you imagine it is a PRODUCTION e-commerce site? How much money can I lose? and I will probably lose Google search ranking.

Lesson learned - You pay for what you get

On their web site, they didn't talk about their Data Center at all. I suspected that they rented some co-location servers from an ISP and started to do VPS business. Maybe I am wrong, but certainly they are not business class (forget about Enterprise) hosting company. If you are hosting your personal web site or your own blog, this maybe a good solution, if you are using it for business good luck to you.

I must admit that, their VPS performance is fast and connection speed is great. However, as the users review at webhostingstuff.com said, UNITL you have a problem you will see what I mean. Good luck.

There are things you can’t do at VPSland

With my Windows-EZ VPS plan, there are certain limitation:

- I can't apply Windows Update myself.. hmmm.. not sure if I like this. In FAQ they said they do windows update on hardware node once a month. There is a problem: There are certain Windows Updates may not work on some specific software, usually we have to test the windows update in the QA environment before applying to production. I don't like this at all.

- There is no KVM access, everything is rely on tech support (see above incidents). Unless you join the XL-series which is running on XEN Virtualization, then you will have KVM access. But after this horrible experience, I will not even give XEN a try. Sorry.

I am happy with the service

I have my VPS for around 3 month with VPSland.

When I was searching for VPS I found GoDaddy and VPSland offering the kind of service I was after for a low price.

I was after a Windows server with at least 512M RAM, Min 5G disk space and plenty if data allowance.

I wanted the VPS to host at least 2 web sites and to run my Automatic trading test system (ATS) using MT4.

It seems most providers, if you want at least 512M RAM wanted to charge at least $50/month except the above two, where you can get it for about $30/month. So I read all the reviews I could find and found out that GoDaddy logs you out after about 5 minutes if you disconnect, so It is not good for my ATS.

VPSland was slightly better priced for me because I was getting 768M ram instead of 512M I was going to get from GoDaddy, but I read a couple of bad reviews about VPSland, made me initially concerned. Most reviews I read however seemed issues were related to support matters where people tried to install things (perhaps made a few mistakes) and expected support to fix it for them.)

Here is my experience with VPSland so far: (3 months usage)
Within 3-4 hours of ordering I received an email notification that my server is ready to be used.
I ordered the server with no add-ons installed (No Plesk), as I wanted to make sure I have enough ram for my applications.
I chose the 64 bit version, because this way I believe I have better change that it is running on a newer hardware.
I was trying to upload files to the server using RDP and it was slow, but it could be because of my ADSL upload speed was slow.
Then downloading files from the Internet from my VPS server while I was RDP-ing to my server was super fast.

Installing my applications and configuring them went smoothly. I didn't need to call for support.

They also have a web management tool (Looks like MS SharePoint based) where you can do everything.
You can reboot your server if it hung or cannot access it via RDP (I never needed to use this, but it is much easier that then waiting for support to do that for you.)
You can run your own backup and restore. Again isn't it much easier and better if you are in control of your own system than relying on support? It seems however you can only store one set of backups, even if you have space available for more than one.

My server is up and running since then I had no issues so far.

I rated support 10 star. Although I didn't need to interact with humans on the support end, the management tool allows me to do everything I need.

As for the features, I do not undestand why they limit the backup sessions to one if I have plenty of space available on my backup drive.

As good as a chocolate teapot in the desert

I had a multitude of issues when with VPSLAND including:
* Downtime of 12-24 hours if you tried to reboot VPS as it did not always reboot properly and they needed to reboot the node
* Support teams ignoring support requests if they dont 'really' know the answer, that is usually after they have blamed you as a user for not being able to configure the system correctly
* Support teams lying about configuration settings, I had an email server which was not plesk to support the other mail servers I run and I could not get outgoing emails to work on port 25 although VPSLAND repeatedly stated that they were not blocking outgoing port 25 and it was only my configuration at fault. Testing using telnet demonstrated that they were blocking port 25. Once I had found a 3rd party SMTP relay service to relay emails from a nonstandard port then this solved all of these problems (funny huh)
Also, they had a wonderful skill of chaning all of the system configuration settings back to default even though they repeatedly corrected the settings and promised they would not change again.

Final Thought
If you want a VPS with just IIS and PLESK and DEFAULT SETTINGS then you are in the right place and they will do you well, but then why do you want to pay for a VPS in that situation, there are much cheaper solutions.

If you want anything more than that, you are entering a world of problems, issues and incompetence.

Annoying and Poor Support

One of the nice benefits of VPS is being able to manage your own DNS as well as create and use your own name servers. For certain things at VPSLAND, however, you can't use custom name servers. You need to use their name servers and their DNS hosting instead. Who wants VPSLAND.COM!! coming up as their name server? Even beyond reasons of vanity, when you use their DNS hosting it pulls error if you check it at intoDNS.com or other tools. Find someone who will let you manage your DNS with Plesk/WHM or whatever. One other very telling item is that sales is the only department available for live chat. Support tickets take forever.

hey, reading your reviews i am certain you have the wrong people. i myself have been with VPSLAND for some time, my ping is no loss and the service is very fast and efficient, support requests get a personal response in about 5 minutes, 10 minutes for a more technical request and the remote desktop to the server it as good as using my own pc. after messing up my own server i ask for support to reinstall plesk, sure enough support totally reinstalled it for me and my server was working perfectly, i havent yet been able to fault the service the have offered me, the support staff are friendly, there isnt a phone number you can call, but with online support and the very fast ticket system who needs that,i am currently running 6 websites from the server, and every one is running perfectly, emails, dns, the works. even down to php, and mysql all running without any hickups and so far i have had 100% uptime from the server. The prices are really good, and they are there own business not a reseller of hardware from a larger company which makes there service etc have full access to everything they need. I have already recommended this company to many friends who are soon to be purchasing there own vps after seing mine and the control panels which they offer has impressed a lot of people. The software running is Parrallels and the control panel allows reboots, ending of services, changing startup programs etc and just gives that finishing touch to the already perfect setup they give you.

when you first purchase you will get your VPS soon after mine was around 25 mins which is what i expected as a copy of the OS would need to be made for me along with many other settings, so i was really impressed with how fast my websites were online.

If you are going to go with this company before listening to all the reviews on this page just take the time to visit the website and check them out for yourself. they are 100 times better than you guys are giving credit for.

thanks VPS Land for being the perfect host for me, especially after using many others and finding something wrong, VPS LAND have proved they are the best in the business at least to me and my customers.

It's true that VPS land can give ya double ram. Sure is !! But they don't let you space enough to the kernel memory area (nonPaged) to run a simple IIS service !!! It's patetic ! check my e-mails transcriptions !!!
(http.sys run on the kernel memory area and need at least 20mb to run.O therwise IIS refuses to accept incomings)

We are just talking about run a web service !! Are you telling me that your product is not enought to run a very basic service like IIS ?? What exactlly your customers do with the VPS ? I Don't wanna believe that you have a lot of customers and none of customers runs a simple service like this !!!!

VPSLAND - Horrible

Review Score: 3
Date: Added: 1202074752

When our company wanted to downsize on cost we went with a VPS and chose VPSLAND.com We had a multitude of issues right off the bat. The first being email - all email sent out for their network/our IP with them would end up in junk mail/spam folders. When we tried to explain to them it is their end and our configuration is correct (and unchanged since migrating from a dedicated box) they blamed our zone files and then when we proved it was not that, they blamed the major ISP\'s for the block and pretty much said they would look into it; it took them 3 months to get back to us saying it was our exim configuration which was not the case. The second issue was downtime, they have the worst uptime and latency. If our server was not experiencing 50% packet loss or high pings, then it was down. The funny thing is, is that whenever it went down they had to reboot our VPS to get it back online, seems they do not understand how to run their system. During down time, even opening a ticket with a \"Critical\" rating left a 6 hour time span before anyone would get back to you. Their response, uptime, latency, and support is of the worst in the hosting industry. My suggestion is to stay clear away from them unless you want to destroy any positive reputation you may have as a company, even as we speak they have 30% packet loss. The end result for us was we moved our operations to a data center in Florida, ironically email is working fine for our customers and latency is perfect, right where it was before we tried the VPSLAND.com service - no change in our configuration.

In short, VPSLand sucks. Their service is down for hours at a time. Mine was down for 5 days at one point. Also, their back-ups suck. Actually, good luck getting a back-up out of them because they can't provide them when you ask.

Their support sucks. No phone = stay away.

You will have better luck paying the kid next door to host your server out of his parent's garage.
